Beef Shish Kebabs

Beef Shish Kebabs

You must cut the beef into cubes that are all roughly the same size. Most people would use the cuts that are about a half-inch square. The cuts of beef should be set aside and seasoned with salt and pepper. You could toss these cuts on the pan to give them a little bit of seasoning on all sides. However, that is not necessary.

Instructions

  • You must cut the beef into cubes that are all roughly the same size. Most people would use the cuts that are about a half-inch square. The cuts of beef should be set aside and seasoned with salt and pepper. You could toss these cuts on the pan to give them a little bit of seasoning on all sides. However, that is not necessary.

  • Mix a tablespoon of red wine vinegar, a few dashes of steak sauce, a dash of flour, and some sour cream in a mixing bowl. This mixture must be folded together loosely so that it will remain heavy when layered onto the meat. People who whip the mixture together too much cause it to get runny and drip off the meat.

  • Mix the cuts of meat into the mixture, and allow them to rest on the same pan where you seasoned them. The cuts of meat need to dry out just a little bit before they are cooked. Rest the cuts of meat while heating up your cooking source, or you could put them in the refrigerator until it is time to cook them. You could even go so far as freezing them and thawing them out on the day you plan to cook them.

  • The skewers have a sharp edge that helps you lance the meat, and you should alternate meat with onion and pepper. Slice your pepper and onion into large sections that are easy to manage, and they should be organized in the same manner between each cut of meat.

  • All your skewers must be cooked at the same time on the same surface. You could put them on the grill, use the grill plate on your stove, put them in the oven, or cook them over an open flame. The skewers need to be turned at least once every minute until the meat is brown and you have some color on the sauce itself. If you are cooking without the sauce, you must look for the grill marks or char marks on the meat.

  • The total cooking time for each skewer is about two minutes, but you need to watch them so that they do not cook too fast or burn. You could set up multiple servings of these skewers because they only take about fifteen minutes to prepare. Take care to cut the onions and peppers with gloves so that you do not transfer flavor to other parts of the dish.

  • Use lean cuts of meat to cut back on the fat content of this meal, increase the number of vegetables to make it a bit healthier, and remember that the vegetables could be changed out for anything you like. Parsnips, potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli could all make their way onto these skewers.

  • Reducing or eliminating the amount of salt you use makes this dish healthier, and you could take out the sour cream altogether if you wanted the dish to be even more lean. Pepper alone is a good seasoning for steak before it goes on the flame.
